Outside this window...

Life goes on outside this window
The wheels go ‘round
But they don’t make a sound
That resounds and reaches the other side of the window.

Life goes on across the sea
They walk and talk and wonder what if
What if the girl where still here

Life goes on outside the city walls
That protect and defend
They stand tall and strong
The life inside the city
Walls

Life goes on outside this tenement
With its tenants forgotten in abysmal silence
Life forgotten
Frozen in time
They do not go on but
Life goes on outside this tenement

Life goes on outside this window
Look down, but they don’t look up
At who
Who are you?
Who is this inside the walls protected by this transparent
Window?

Life does go on my friend
A fool would think otherwise.
Life goes on outside this window.
Here’s to you, one more time,
And for the last

Life goes on outside this window.

  1. Other than "life going on outside the window," this story has nothing to do with your poem but it reminded me of it. There were three very sick elderly men in a hospital room with a window at the very end of the room. One of the men had a view outside of this window from his bed and he would tell the other two about all the amazing things he saw while the other two were unable to see it.. The man one day up and died in his sleep and the two each moved down one bed. The second old man whom had now taken the deceaseds' bed continued telling of how amazing the view is of this beautiful park and children playing and yada yada yada.. Well the other man becomes extremely jealous and let it gradually build over time. He really wanted to see outside this window instead of the plain hospital wall that was in front of him. Time passes and one day the old man with the view began to have a heart attack and begged(whispered due to his condition) the other man to shout for help but he wouldn't because he was so driven to be able to have that bed and see out that window. He let the old man die and sure enough, he was moved down to the bed with the view. As he was being helped up, he turned his head to look out the window in excitement, only to find himself staring out at a brick wall. I kinda screwed up the story with grammar, etc but oh well, if you can find the story it is part of a great anthology that I can't remember the name of.. =D

Did you get a chance to see The Walking Dead yet?

  2. It's kinda funny how little things can trigger your memory to something you heard, read, or saw a long time ago.. The crazy thing is, I can't remember events that occurred a month ago, yet can remember an episode of a cartoon I saw when I was six years old, haha... I dunno... I find myself reminiscing a lot...
